About OBC
The MISSION of Ottawa Bible Church is (1) to encourage one another in the understanding of the Bible and its application to our personal lives, (2) to exhort one another to communicate, by word and life, the one and only Gospel (Rom. 3:23; 6:23; John 3:16; 1:12), (3) to build one another up by graciously accepting, loving, and praying for, one another in the oneness of the Holy Spirit, (4) to provide an atmosphere of thanksgiving and worship in which we can fellowship with the one true God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), (5) to motivate one another to good works, (6) to provide for the development of Spirit-given gifts, and (7) to support individuals and organizations of like mission through prayer and finances.
The founders of Ottawa Bible Church chose I Timothy 3:1-13 as the pattern for organization. New Testament churches were under the oversight of Elders and Deacons.
Elders: Larry Carrier (Pastor), Mike Dean, Gary Miller, Fred Martin, and Al Seeger (Chairman).
The responsibilities of Church Elders are to maintain personal spiritual maturity, to maintain a blameless reputation in the community, practice godliness at home and take care of the church.
Deacons: Curt Bittner, Norm Mast, Lyle Posey, Doug Rhodes, and Mike Selman (Chairman).
Deacons, as in Acts 6:1-7, are to be spiritually mature men, who have the financial oversight of the church.
Pastor: Larry Carrier
Youth Pastor: Fred Martin
Treasurer: Gary Vathauer
1. The Bible is God’s inspired Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17), without error in the original writing. It is our authority for faith and living.
2. God is One, eternally existing in three Persons (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
3. God became human in Jesus (John 1:1-2, 14). He was sinless, but the Father laid our sins upon Him in His crucifixion. He died for our sins, and rose up the third day (1Peter 2:24, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). At the Father’s right hand He now prays for us, waiting for the day He will return for His own (John 14:1-3; 1 John 2:1-2). He will return in the air for His Church (1 Thessalonians 3:15-18), and later return to set up His earthly Kingdom (Revelation 19:11-16; 20:1-60. He commissioned His disciples to make other disciples from among all nations (Acts 1:8). All His disciples make up His One Church (1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22-23).
4. The Holy Spirit is convincing every human being of sin, warning them of judgment and drawing them to believe/receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (John 16:8-11). He abides in every believer, enabling him or her to overcome sin and gifting him or her with talent for service (Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5;16, 18, 22, 23; 1 Corinthians 12-14).
5. God created Adam and Eve to reflect His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-27). They were morally pure until they disobeyed God. The seeds of sin were passed on to all humanity (Romans 3:23). God forgives forever those who trust in His Son (John 3:16; Romans 8:1a). Nothing can separate a believer from God and nothing can hinder God’s destiny for the believer (Romans 8:28-39). The true believer chooses to live a holy life (Galatians 5:13; 1 John 3:5-9).
6. Satan is real (Job 1:6; Isaiah 12:14-17), the leader of many angels who sinned prior to creation of the world. We believe hell is real. Now, the unbelieving go to “Hades” (Luke 16:22-23) and await the final judgment and the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:11-15).
7. Jesus ordained water baptism (Matthew 28:18-20) and Communion (Matthew 26:26-30).
8. Our Mission is Caring (for others), Sharing (the Good News) and Praying (for one another).
